It was the plums that bore fruit first- marking our Shiro Plum with Mint as our first preserve after one lone tree yielded 150lb of very ripe fruit- but the peaches came bountifully on their heels. And so, as we do, and as we did, we made jam. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eHomegrown peaches are extraordinary, and particularly special in our maritime climate. Ripened on the tree and picked by small hands —it’s the juice dripping down your chin and all the down to your elbows kind of experience. We’ve captured that in glass; preserved that deep heat, dog days and bounty of summer feel with a simplicity you get to taste - and not just my daughter - who eagerly awaits the first peach each year. This year I was off the island when the fruit came ripe, so Kelsey and her kids picked both trees — the next family of small hands to bring the harvest in.
